Business Networks

VisNetic Firewall for Networks shields an entire network against unwanted attacks from outside and from within the network. Placing VisNetic Firewall for Servers on the gateway computer or proxy server accessing the Internet on behalf of the network expands the security to the entire LAN (Local Area Network). VisNetic Firewall for Networks not only guards the network from unknown threats, but also preserves access for trusted sources.

VisNetic Firewall for Networks is economically licensed to include one server and the number of workstations purchased. For example, VisNetic Firewall for Networks 25-users is valid for 1 server and 25 workstations. Rather than purchasing a firewall that far exceeds the cost of the hardware its protecting, or sacrificing security to meet budget constraints, VisNetic Firewall provides cost-effective protection.

Incorporating all of the features of the workstation version plus the features of a server license, VisNetic Firewall for Networks provides complete protection for the entire network protecting against threats originating within the internal network or outside of the network.

Time-sensitive rules may also be applied to determine if traffic is allowed or blocked, based on the time of day. Activating this feature, for instance, empowers VisNetic Firewall to block all requests (incoming and outgoing) after business hours, if necessary.

VisNetic Firewall for Servers may also be configured to filter protocols other than IP protocols selectively. Examples of other protocols that VisNetic Firewall will filter include IGMP and GRE. The benefit of blocking these protocols independently, rather than globally, is that selective filtering can take place. As an example, GRE is a protocol used for many VPN implementations and is often ignored by a firewall as trusted traffic; whereas IGMP is a protocol of choice for some attacks. With this feature, an Administrator may allow GRE through the VPN, while blocking IGMP.

Password security protects the configuration of the network's VisNetic Firewall. To access or change the settings of VisNetic Firewall, including filtering, rules and logs, the Administrator must authenticate with a username and password. This protection ensures that the settings of the firewall remain intact and tamper-proof from unapproved sources.
