HTTPS is HTTP plus SSL, or the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure.
HTTP, or the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, is the server-client network protocol used to transmit most data on the World Wide Web. Both web browser clients and web servers use HTTP.
HTTP transmits text, images and other data in clearly readable formats which can be intercepted and modified along the way. This is not usually a problem for most public web pages because they are readily available to anyone. But for e-commerce, email and webmail, HTTP security can be very important.
MDaemon provides an HTTPS option for WorldClient webmail using SSL.
HTTPS adds to HTTP:
MDaemon provides for either optional or required SSL connections to WorldClient. When WorldClient SSL is optional, webmail users can check their mail using either http or https protocols. When https is required, all webmail users must use https.
MDaemon sets up WorldClient SSL at the server level, not at the domain level. If the server has https optional, individual domains can force https connections to WorldClient by redirecting http requests to the https server. Web masters must set up this redirection. This allows some domains to keep WorldClient SSL optional while other domains have required SSL connections.
