ComAgent Installation

ComAgent is an email client application for monitoring users’ email boxes and notifying them when email arrives. It runs on the users’ computers. It comes as a Windows tray application and as Java app. It is available as a download from the user’s email server. ComAgent has a built-in instant messaging tool.

Requirements

ComAgent comes pre-configured for each user since it is downloaded from the user’s email server.

How To

These instructions are for the client computers.

Windows ComAgent

To install Windows ComAgent:

  1. Logon to the WorldClient and click on the Options link.
  2. Click on the ComAgent link.
  3. Scroll down to the Download the ComAgent Installer command button and use it.
  4. Download the installer to a folder you can find.
  5. Navigate to the downloaded installer and open it to display the installation wizard.
  6. Read the dialog and use the Next command button.
  7. Select the installation directory and use the Next command button.
  8. Enter the name of the Program Manager Group to use for the ComAgent icons, or keep the default. Then use the Next command button.
  9. Use the Next command button to install the software. This takes about 20 seconds on a slow machine. When the installation is complete, the installer displays the Finish dialog.
  10. Activate any check boxes you want for ComAgent. The defaults of Start ComAgent and Place ComAgent in Startup Group make sure ComAgent starts now and gets restarted on rebooting the machine. Then use the Finish command button to exit from the installer.
  11. If you selected Start ComAgent in the previous step, ComAgent starts and asks for your account password.
  12. If you work in a more or less secure place, activate the check box for storing the password.
  13. Use the OK command button to login.

Now, each time you start your computer, ComAgent will start and login to your email account.

Java ComAgent

To install Java ComAgent:

  1. Login to the WorldClient and click on the Options link.
  2. Click on the ComAgent link.
  3. Scroll down to the ComAgent-Java Edition headline.
  4. If you do not have Java installed on your computer, follow the link to the runtime download site, download the software and install it.
  5. Back on the ComAgent download page, click on the Launch ComAgent Java link to display the logon screen.
  6. Enter your complete email address -- you@domain.nu, for example -- and password. Then use the Login command button.
