Spam Filtering-How to Set Up White Lists

Introduction

White lists identify email addresses less likely to be spam sources or destinations. However being on a white list does not exempt and address from AntiSpam processing. Instead white listing adjusts the spam score of all messages sent to or received from an address to allow most of them to pass. Only messages with extremely high spam ratings are marked a spam.

White lists can be setup by specifying addresses and by using automatic tracking.

How To

  3. Enter a number in the text box labeled A white list match subtracts this many points from the spam score.

AntiSpam subtracts this number from the spam score of each message. The higher this number, the less likely a message sent to or from a white listed address will be identified as spam.

If after the subtraction, the spam score of a message is still greater than or equal to the spam threshold score, the message is marked as spam. (The spam threshold score is the number entered in the text box labeled A message is spam if its score is greater than or equal to on the Heuristic tab of the Spam Filter dialog.)

  4. Use the Apply command button, then select the White List (auto) tab.
