MailScan for MDaemon has been created
to provide network wide anti-virus protection from the
MDaemon server. The first software of its kind, MailScan
for MDaemon automatically upgrades and reconfigures
itself with the most current anti-virus information.
MailScan for MDaemon uses three sets of rules to learn
and disseminate new anti-virus information:
- Update sets: Small incremental updates made
automatically whenever MailScan is connected to the
Internet.
- Rule sets: Automatically updated one-line rules
such as delete harmful attachments or delete
hoax messages.
- Security policies: Combination of update sets and
rule sets.
Using these rules, MailScan for MDaemon's performance is
continuously altered and improved. The powerful scanner
has the ability to detect viruses in plain text
attachments and HTML messages. MailScan for MDaemon also
spots and disinfects malicious attachments like
HAPPY99.EXE and EXPLOREZIP at the Gateway Level itself.
Once detained, infected Email is deleted, quarantined
for further review, or forwarded to an administrator.
MailScan for MDaemon also has the ability to control
the content entering the network by scanning the subject
and body of an Email. Administrators can also delete *.jpg,
*.mpg, *.mp3 and other file type attachments before they
enter the network. Content Control is an exceptional
tool for ensuring organizational resources are used most
productively.
MailScan for MDaemon runs as a service on Windows 95,
98, NT and 2000. Installation of MailScan for MDaemon is
completely automated.
